Galena, IL – September 16, 2019 – Illinois Bank & Trust long-time employee Michele Berning has taken on a new role as Senior Vice President, Commercial Banker. Berning previously served as Senior Vice President, Mortgage Sales Manager.
In her new role, Berning will be doing Small Business lending, servicing current relationships and calling on businesses to secure new accounts in the Northwest Illinois region. Berning has been an employee of Illinois Bank & Trust, formerly Galena State Bank, for 36 years and has worked in mortgage, commercial and consumer loans, auditing, and compliance.

Berning is a graduate of the University of Dubuque and has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Administration. She is a member of the Galena Rotary and serves as Secretary on the Board. In addition, she is the Treasurer for the Galena Downtown Business Association and is a member of the finance committee of St. Francis de Sales Parish in Hazel Green, Wisconsin.
